Yorkshire firms recognised in Fast Track international sales list

Six firms from Yorkshire have been featured in a league table which ranks the UK’s mid-market private companies which have the fastest-growing international sales.

The Yorkshire headquartered companies include two new entrants to the Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200. The international sales of these firms have grown by 74% a year on average over the last two years, bringing them to a total of £301m, and together they employ a 2,800-strong workforce.

One of the new entrants is Pelsis, based in Knaresborough, a manufacturer of pest control and garden care products. With high profile customers, including Screwfix ,Brico, and Rentokil in over 80 countries , the firm achieved international sales of £54.1m in 2016.

A-Safe in Halifax features for the second consecutive year. The company manufactures safety barriers which are used in factories by companies such as Nestlé and Heineken, as well as being found in car parks and airports worldwide. With offices in 14 countries, A-Safe had export sales of £36.3m in 2017.

Other Yorkshire firms listed include bedding manufacturer John Cotton Group, consumer goods supplier Pricecheck, recycler Leo Group, and brand agency Principle.

The table demonstrates the resilience of Britain’s medium-sized exporters. Despite Brexit concerns, their international sales have increased by an average of 62% a year over the last two years, resulting in the highest growth rate since 2013 with total revenues of £10.1bn.

Amanda Murphy, head of commercial banking, HSBC UK, said: “All the businesses it (the league table) showcases have truly inspiring stories to tell about creativity, resilience and ambition to succeed. The six companies in Yorkshire are putting the county firmly on the map. They are the kinds of enterprises we are thrilled to support and that provide the backbone of our economy, today and tomorrow.”
