Harrogate tech company expands into Asia Pacific market

Techbuyer, a Harrogate business specialising in purchasing, refurbishing and selling IT equipment, has opened a new office in Auckland, New Zealand, as part of its global expansion.

The business already operates across three continents, with locations in New Jersey, Minnesota, Germany and the UK, and aims to open an Australian office soon. Since its establishment in 2005, Techbuyer has seen rapid expansion, with turnover figures growing 20 per cent year on year. Chris Pooley, Techbuyer’s sales director for the Asia-Pacific region, said: “A big part of our offering is the ability to turn around quotes quickly and deliver the next working day,”
“With offices in different time zones, we are able to deliver that to our customer everywhere now, including the customer s and suppliers we have in the Asia-Pacific region.”

Techbuyer acquires its hardware from corporates that have excess stock, companies upgrading their systems and public sector bodies aiming to sell their old IT hardware. The equipment is restored to factory settings, its storage is wiped, and then it is put through functionality testing before being sold on at a discounted rate.

Kevin Towers, the company’s founder, said: “As every area of our lives is becoming digitalised, hardware has to be repurposed much more quickly than its natural lifespan. Quality refurbishment and resale is a growth area for many customers large and small
